As part of the natural aging process, your neck ages faster than the rest of your body. The skin in this area loses collagen and elastin faster. But our habits influence neck aging too. You often look down while checking your phone, texting friends, family, or co-workers, or using your devices. This causes wrinkles known as “tech neck.”
Fortunately, there are things you can do to prevent neck wrinkles.
Neck Exercises
Exercise tightens and tones your neck. It can also boost collagen production. If you’re interested, you can try out the forehead push and other specific exercises health professionals recommend.
Eat Healthy
Make sure you’re following a balanced diet. Healthy eating provides key nutrients and minerals to your body, supplying antioxidants and encouraging cell renewal. This helps prevent neck wrinkles.
Protect Your Skin
Don’t forget to protect your skin. Wear sunscreen. Exposure to the sun breaks down collagen, and that produces wrinkles. Be sure to wear SPF at least 30 and reapply every two hours or as necessary.
Additionally, choose a good moisturizer. While many apply moisturizer to their face, the neck is often forgotten. Studies do show that moisturizer can improve signs of aging.
Eliminating Neck Wrinkles
Keep in mind the above tips are preventive recommendations. Using sunscreen or doing exercises isn’t going to eliminate any wrinkles you have now.
To do that, you may need to try Botox, derma fillers, or surgery. Botox is an injection that smooths the skin. Dermal fillers are meant to smooth the surface of the skin and plump it up. Surgical procedures involve removing skin and stretching it back. This makes the skin appear tauter.
Preventative and Medial Options for Neck Wrinkles
Wrinkles are inevitable. But it’s possible to fight them using preventive measures and medical treatments to help reduce their appearance of wrinkles on the neck.
