Soda adds little value to your diet but lots of calories to your waistline. The high sugar content and artificial flavorings are a recipe for disaster. Yet some sodas are even worse than others.
Here are a few products to avoid.
Crush
The Crush range of sodas are major offenders in the high sugar and no nutritional value stakes. Don’t be fooled by their fruit flavors. While the Watermelon and Strawberry Crush are lower in sugar, offering 75 grams and 76 grams respectively, Peach and Pineapple contain a whopping 83 grams and 85 grams per 20-ounce bottle.
Sunkist
Sunkist is another high sugar, zero fruit product. The Peach Flavor contains 76 grams of sugar, while the fruit-free Fruit Punch comes in at 80 grams. You’re better off avoiding these drinks altogether.
Mello Yellow
Mello Yellow’s 20-ounce bottle contains 80 grams of sugar. While it may be citrus-flavored, it has no vitamin C content or any other health benefit.
Mountain Dew
Mountain Dew contains 77 grams of sugar per a 20-ounce bottle. Its incredibly sweet and delicious taste conceals the more debilitating side effects. Mountain Dew’s other variants, Code Red, Voltage, and Love Wire are also very high in corn syrup content.
Fanta Mango
This popular drink is also high in sugar content, coming in at 76 grams per a 20-ounce bottle. It may be flavored like mango, but rest assured, it contains none of the health benefits associated with the fruit.
